Community Mobilization

Community Mobilization

NRSP, serving as the Social Mobilization Partner (SMP), has undertaken a comprehensive effort to revitalize and empower community organizations. This involved facilitating the identification of target groups through community discussions based on specific criteria

project initiatives, overseeing community physical infrastructure schemes, managing the distribution of assets, and coordinating with other implementing partners and training providers. Within the framework of SPPAP, the objective of community mobilization is to foster a participatory and collaborative approach with local communities. This approach aims to enhance the agency of both men and women, with a particular emphasis on empowering women. Additionally, it promotes economies of scale, benefiting small-scale farmers, livestock owners, and non-farming community members alike. Furthermore, this approach nurtures the potential for establishing village-based institutions that serve as vehicles for overall village development.

Capacity Building of CO Representatives & CO Manager Conference:

The Social Mobilization Partner (SMP), NRSP, has conducted Community Management Skill Training (CMST) sessions and CO Manager Conferences for the office bearers of Community Organizations (COs), typically involving the presidents, managers, and activists of the respective communities.

CMST entails a three-day training program aimed at orienting CO members to the objectives of SPPAP and equipping them with strategies for participatory monitoring of project activities. In addition to familiarizing participants with SPPAP and its components & criteria, record keeping, discussions during CMST sessions also revolve around the inclusion of the poor and women in household livelihoods, income generation, decision-making processes, empowerment, and rural development.

The CO Manager Conference, held over one day, gathers CO managers and focal persons to exchange experiences and learn new techniques in agriculture and livestock development. A primary focus of this event is to define the roles and responsibilities of CO managers concerning financial, operational, and managerial record-keeping, as well as the necessary procedures for account opening in banks and overall documentation at the CO level.
